Kristin Scholl, LCSW
Life can seem overwhelming at times and it can take a toll on our relationships, our mood, and our overall well-being. Sometimes we need support to get through these challenging times. I am a therapist who can help you do that. My primary goal is to empower individuals, couples and families to use their strengths and resources to work through their challenges. My therapy style is supportive, interactive, non-judgmental and compassionate.
I have over 20 years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults in a variety of settings including the military, federal government, schools, hospitals and intensive outpatient programs. When working with clients I draw upon my specialized clinical training in many different evidence based practices. I find that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Solution-Focused Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy (in which I am certified by EMDRIA), in particular are very effective in helping clients of all ages with a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, anger management, panic, phobias, stress, eating problems, obsessive compulsive disorder, bipolar disorder, substance abuse, and trauma.
I enjoy working with couples and families. When working with couples I like to help them deepen their friendship and intimacy as well as learn how to more effectively manage conflict. I have completed Level 3 Practicum Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and I am a Certified Trainer in Gottman’s Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work. When working with children and their families, I focus on both parenting strategies, and use the “Kids’ Skills” model, which is a playful and practical approach to help kids become active participants in skill-bulilding and solution finding. My goal is to support families in working through communication issues and challenging times in a safe and caring environment.
Let’s work together to achieve your goals and to improve the quality of your life and your relationships.
